1st Braidout on Natural Hair

Image
I have finally attempted my first braid out on natural hair. I absolutely loved it, below is a tutorial on the process.  I am also pleased to inform that I can actually wear a twist out. It felt like it was taking me forever to achieve the look I wanted. But I kept trying....and I believe I needed a product change.  I encourage everyone to continue that hairstyle that you wanted! The tweek of a product just might be what you need to achieve that awesome hairstyle!  I hope everyone is doing well with their hair journey's!  -KamiTinae

Afro Puff & Hair Update

Image
Omg now that I am a REAL working woman....I need to do my hair professionally right? But how do    I maintain those type of hairstyles while being lazy at the same time! Yes...I resorted to the AFRO   PUFF. I absolutely adore big hair! I also talk about what the heck is going on with my hair and do a   small lengthy for ya'll =)     Watch me Grow,   Kamitinae =)

FRO-OUT

Image
The classic AFRO is a style that can never be out of style! Rather you choose to rock the traditional OR create an AFRO-PUFF you just cannot go wrong. Especially in August, your hair doesn't have a chance to revert because it was never manipulated! Wheeeee that def takes some of the worry of bad hair days in the sun down a notch.  However, I'm sure some people aren't comfortable wearing their FRO!! Butthere are  quite a few ways to jazz up and tame this look. Check this picture of my moms hair out and let me know what you think.  I have been wearing my hair that way for about two weeks now! Though her hair is finer than mines she was still able to achieve this look! It takes a small preparation but don't worry I will have a tutorial soon! Training...Week 3

Image
I'm baaaaack....well not really. But I am finding a small amount of time to post to you all!  Well...I am entering week 3 of training! Yay me! Hell week is just about over and I am in it for the long haul :) Three more exams this week and one the following!  I know you're probably wondering why someone training to be a flight attendant is taking exams? Shoot me too 😋. Just kidding...but seriously what could they possibly be on. The only thing I have ever seen an FA do is serve beverages, perhaps give out a few snacks and check carry ons.  I honestly thought I would be learning to serve pecans...peanuts...cracker jacks..blow pops...and maybe a whistle for the kids. I am here to tell you that I have not SERVED one cracker jack this whole time 😩.  I know right I was thinking the same thing. Lol A flight attendant is not a glorified waitress. We are safety specialists, trained to effectively handle medical and aircraft emergencies. But Guess who put out a fire ye...

Flat Twist Style...Training!

Image
Hey everyone: Seems like it has been a tough MINUTE since I mentioned my new job. However, I will be leaving for training this Sunday May 19, 2013. Omg I am all packed and ready for this awesome new adventure in my life. I will be gone for a whole month....and then some because I have to get situated with my new living arrangements. However, I have posted one last video before my return! I needed a protective style for training. I do NOT have time for any Bad Hair days. So.....I opted to try something new! Flat Twist Video People =) BUT....for now I'm being flown to HAWT Arizona to bask in the sun. Well, not really I do actually have some things to learn. lol However, before I leave I plan on posting two videos that I haven't posted yet about my transitioning days. Wow it is so funny saying that because they actually just ended. lol But I will attempt to keep updates on here and my youtube as much as possible! Until then....wish me luck...and let's grow people.

I'm Natural! Big Chop Results

Image
Alright...Alright...Alright....I know it took me two days to do it...but I DID! Here is the video of my Big Chop Results. Included in the Video: Texture Shots Dry Hair Photos Wet Hair Photos Dry Combed Out Photos My First Natural Hair Style Photos Hair Twisted Immediately After The Chop (Disaster) However, just to clear things up....the twist out was a terrible...terrible...LOOK...a least for me. There was no GAT DOG on way I would ever leave the house let alone.....the internet check that mess out. lol Hence why I did not show the results. However, I used WATER...MOISTURIZER...& Eco Styler Gel for my final look. My hair to my surprise would actually curl up on its own when it was moist. The gel helped to greatly reduce the amount of frizz in my hair. I apply those products....which I can share on a later post...and separate the hair and it curled up on its own from there. I actually love this style because it reminds me of my FAVORITE style.."BANTU KN...

Big Chop#2

Image
I had to Clip more hair aside from the first video I posted! So I twisted my hair and began to snip again....YES...I am scissor happy.lol Yes...I LOVE my Hair and YES....my next video will be my hair results! http://youtu.be/-nVoWcqxBII  <--------------------- Here is the link until I can place the actual video from youtube here! Thanks for watching, -Kamitinae ; p These ends had to be clipped of course! I basically have been clipping the remaining pieces of perm left over as I seem them. Bit more time consuming than I thought. I could of posted so many videos of me doing that. BUT to save the mundane scissor happy hands...I just gave you guys 2.lol Anyone out there transitioning or still trying to decide on what to do? I was pleasantly surprised and super excited by the amount of hair that grew over the year span. I am LOVING IT. -KamiTinae

4Gradesnatural Photo Shoot!

Image
OMG ya'll my family aka 4Gradesnatural just did a photo shoot the other day! We had so much fun getting dressed together and doing our hair! My little sister Ky straightened her hair for the first time in a year. However, she had it professionally done...cut..etc. Will definitely post a video on that process! However, the rest of us had our hair pulled back off of our faces! But the best thing about this is it's NATURAL. We also did not have these photo's touched up! This is who we are! We are greatly defined by our natural selves and are in LOVE with it. Here are a few photos from our shoot! Check our facebook page out to see videos and updates from 4gradesnatural! (We all have different textures of hair) Follow our page..check us out..and WATCH US GROW! http://www.facebook.com/4gradesnaturall

I will post her video soon. (4gradesnatural) However, I put bantu knots in my hair tonight and accidentally left a piece out. Sooooo you already know what I did....yes I cut it!!! I wanted to see how long my hair has grown in a year....my natural hair. To my surprise it grew a little over 6 inches for the year yay! Thats a half inch every month which is a normal growth rate. My hair looks super short until you stretch it out. Watch me Grow!

Image
Happy Birthday ME! ;) YES....not only is it my 1st year transitioning anniversary BUT...it is MY 23rd Birthday everyone! Well...I posted my transitioning video yesterday and today I am posting my BDAY Ponytail hair tutorial. I talked about some new things I enjoy doing with my hair and why! However, I wanted to enjoy my birthday without my hair stuck to the side of my face or blowing every way but in the RIGHT direction =p. SOOOOOOOO..I opted for a sleek..cute...ponytail instead yay!lol Well I hope you enjoy it and I guess I'm a take my behind in here and workout. Plus I'm off to Vegas tonight....catch ya'll later. Mini Chop Hair Results

Image
Not too long ago I cut about 3-4 inches of my hair off. I was a little afraid of how to handle my hair at first after the chop. However, omg I did bantu knots on my hair immediately and BOOM I was like heeeeeeeeeeey.lol I was really feeling my curly afro. I love my hair and I am so happy with my transition thus far. You should be able to see how my hair turned out in this video. And the explanation of why my hair is gold on the top ;p. But um comments...questions...concerns? Hit me up! And omg I have been using grapeseed oil in my hair as of lately along with my family....and guess what my hair is soooo SOFT LOVE IT! Bought a HUGE Bottle too. lol Olive & Grape Seed Extra Moisturizing Shampoo - 11 fl oz (Google Affiliate Ad) -Kamitinae

Big Chop???? Hair cut Video!

Image
Hey everyone: Let me be honest...I like to change hairstyles a lot. Soooooooooooo the protective style I recently had in for a little over a week did not last long. Although I do plan on wearing them again and quite frequently. However, as I mentioned before....my hair in the front was quite a few inches longer than the back of my hair. Which leads me to this POST! I had my mother even all of my hair up to match the back. Had this been a few years ago I probably would have freaked. But....I feel hmmmm LIBERATED....I cannot wait until all of my hair is natural. This kind of eased the itching feeling I had to just cut everything off in desperation.lo l Westcott 8" Straight Pink Ribbon Scissors with Microban Antimicrobial (Google Affiliate Ad)

Video Protective Styling

Image
I've been transitioning for about 9 months as most of you know. I am determined to have my natural hair to my neck or shoulders by the end of this year. So....I wanted wear two-strand twists for the next few months because I would like to retain as much length as possible. OMG I hope I can do this I love changing my hair. So I will post any new styles I do to change things up! I also wash my hair a bit more than I'd like (explained in the video) but we'll see how it goes.  Started 1-25-13 Scunci 30 pk No metal Hair Ties (Google Affiliate Ad)

Video:Transitioning Hair Trail

Image
Alright everyone I decided to do this video on my past 9 months of hair transitioning. I do NOT plan on doing a big chop.....I think. I want my natural hair to reach my shoulders in its shrinkage state before I cut it all off. I shall call it my safe and mini chop.lol However, I want to say that I have NEVER had issues with my relaxed hair. I have never experienced any damaged hair...or severe breakage.  I basically started this journey because I want my natural thick hair back. I want the beautiful twists and twist outs..braid outs...bantu knots...etc. My hair is super thick and until now I forgot what my real hair actually looks like.  However, I am excited to be entering my 10th month of transitioning soon and then a year! This video is a just a small trail of my journey! Anyone else journeying out there!?!?! =) Babyliss Pro Black Carrera Hair Dryer (Google Affiliate Ad)

Natural Hair Growth Update-Moisturizing

Image
These last two days I have been wearing my hair in a bun. I was tired of braiding my hair...using bantu knots...and all that twisting! Whew! So I used lots of water and moisturizer to slick it back into a medium high bun! Anyways, I thought it was important to show you guys my natural/permed hair. I would like to say that my natural texture is probably a 4b and perhaps a 4c in some areas in the back. My hair is wavy and sometimes spiral curls on my edges. But....the back seems to be a tad more coarse??? With less of a curl pattern. But I moisturize my hair at least 4-5 days a week. My hair tends to dry out really fast to the point where it feels brittle. One day I took my twist out to moisturize and my permed hair was super hard. However, my natural hair at the roots was somewhat soft. I've noticed that my hair responds differently.....perm/natural hair. The following pictures are just me sectioning my hair and moisturizing my hair. I cannot believe I use so much water i...

Can you GUESS WHO'S Hair is Real??

Image
OMG ... ..My nephew and I from last night! We were having such a good time playing around with our natural/transitioning hair! Let's be honest dealing with natural hair isn't always the easiest thing to deal with right? Sometimes we have BAD hair days.....days that make us feel like crap. And frankly so frustrated that we questionthe decision we made to even go natural to begin with. Tonight I just had my ends clipped because my hair tends to be a little shaggier in the back more than anything else. I'll be posting pictures later about that. But ANYWAYS CAN YOU POINT OUT THE FAKE!LOL
